It's with great excitement, and a small amount of trepidation, that I'm launching my own website, where my gold and copper leaf creations can have a home of their own. If you are looking for, or are a fan of, any of the following then I hope that you will find something on my site that interests or excites you.
- gold leaf lettering
- reverse glass gilding
- traditional sign painting
- genuine 23 carat gold leaf
- copper leaf gift items
- copper wall art
- unique wedding gifts
- personalised gifts
- bespoke art works
Up to now I've relied on third party websites such as Etsy to share my gold leaf art with the world but I've always felt that eventually I would want, and need, a home of my own: a little corner of the web I could have just the way I want it.
Over the coming weeks and months I'll be trying to share as much as I can about my gold leaf creations, the world of artisan markets and the interesting people I meet there.
I'll be sharing posts about the technical processes of gilding as I'm constantly asked to share some insights into this little know but rather wonderful technique. I know there are lots of you who would appreciate some more information about the gilding process.
Please do have a look around the site where I hope you'll find some great ideas for gifts, perhaps for yourself or maybe for friends or family.
Of course the beauty of what I do is that it is all fully customisable to meet your precise needs and tastes and I'm always thrilled to be asked to make something totally unique.
People keep telling me that what I make is the perfect gift for the 'hard to buy for' person but I like to think that they would be great for anyone with good taste, an interest in design, lettering or typography, or perhaps those who just appreciate the beauty of real gold and copper leaf.
All my art works are made using the traditional process of reverse glass gilding which is very much part of the traditional craft of sign painting. I'm not a sign painter myself (for all manner of reasons I won't go into here) but having been taught the skills by a bonafide sign painter, thank you Jim of Severn 9 Signs (www.seven9signs.com), I became entranced by these almost forgotten materials and techniques.
I also realised that it was virtually impossible to get hold of gilded artworks but, thanks to the wonders of social media, it soon became apparent to me that there is a real appetite for it. So I made a simple decision and started making them myself, and this website is the next step in my mission to bring gold leaf lettering to the world.
Thanks for reading.
